Here is what she says...

People have asked why it is so important for us to infuse our students EARLY in training with the aspiration of becoming a respected business and community leader. This is a strategic approach that has been proven to work better than any other method of reformation.

Some people would argue, “But there are some people with personal issues; do they deserve to think of themselves as a leader when they can’t even get their own act together?”

This type of misconception and prejudice towards disadvantaged individuals are the reasons why many seminars and programs fail to permanently transform victims into victors. Thankfully, perfection is not a prerequisite to progress - or leadership. If that were true, there would be no leaders. Besides, people will generally live up to the expectations we have of them. Therefore, it is far preferable to proactively reframe a person’s past with vision, affirmation and motivation. Counseling experience has shown me that unless people in need of reform are encouraged to cast their sights farther a field than their own problems or past failures, they will never have the self-discipline to stay on track with their personal goals. The universal principle holds true:

Whatever we focus upon will consume us.
Of whatever we think most, we will attract more.

We can choose to change the world or it will change us. When I recently visited some women in prison, I got to know the women who accompanied me on the trip. She told me that she was a victim of abuse by her father and uncle. Rhonda said that the most motivating reason to move beyond her painful past was the determination to use her experiences to encourage women in prison, many who were there because they snapped and committed a crime against their abuser after years of being battered. Previously, this woman had been so enmeshed in bitterness and resentment, that she couldn’t use her energies for any constructive contribution to society. Now she is a successful businesswoman who has raised the sights of hundreds to embrace a brighter future. As a leader in her company and community, she says it all started because someone else gave her the impetus to take responsibly for her life – to reclaim her right to design the life she deserved, regardless of past disadvantages. Quite simply - she finally saw herself as a LEADER and lived up to that noble expectation. Today her employer benefits from her transformation because she is a responsible manager who operates with confidence and efficiency.

A leader is first and foremost someone who is learning to lead themselves. And this starts with loving and accepting ourselves into a position of wholeness.
